Meet Vanessa Poirrier: RecruitLoop Recruiter in Queensland, Australia

The diversity of talent and experience in the RecruitLoop community is limitless. Based in Queensland, Australia is Vanessa Poirrier, a seasoned recruitment professional with a strong background in hospitality and experience recruiting positions from entry level to C-suite. A relative newcomer to our group, we caught up with Vanessa to find out a bit more about her.

How long have you been a part of the RecruitLoop community?

I’m a bit of a newbie – I joined towards the end of 2014.

VanessaWhat were you doing before you met us?

I have my own small boutique style recruitment agency on the Gold Coast in gorgeous Queensland, Australia. Prior to that I spent around 10 years as an internal recruiter. I even did a stint with the old Commonwealth Employment Service back in the day, just before they were wound down. I was team leader in the Canberra Employer Vacancy Unit and we were developing a ” brand new” Fee for Service model. It never got off the ground. I think the powers that be thought they could save a sinking ship but at the end or the day the closure was pretty much all about politics.

What is the best part, for you, of being a Looper?

RecruitLoop has the potential to really shake up the industry and make a big impact on competitors and employers. I see a very bright future for this company and I believe that it will open up a whole new world of opportunities for me.

What RecruitLoop feature do you think is the most awesome?

The whole business model is awesome but I would have to say that the support is my favorite feature at this stage.

What is your funniest RecruitLoop moment?

You’d think I wouldn’t have had any, being so new but I’ve already racked up a few. The only one I will admit to at this point is my regression back to childhood when it comes to winning points and moving up the leaderboard in The Loop.

Why do you believe the RecruitLoop model works so well?

Great business model, great support for recruiters, professional yet relevant and relaxed approach. Simplicity for clients and a fantastic point of difference in a tough industry.

What are your passions and interests outside work?

History, urban exploration, animal welfare, boating, fishing (only if hubby puts the bait on for me) … oh and of course our children and the family!

What is something other Loopers may not know about you?

I’m a closet crazy cat lady!

What 5 words would your clients use to describe you?

Professional, patient, friendly, thorough … and Superstar 🙂

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

Eliminate cruelty.

If you could have dinner with five famous people (alive or dead) who would they be and why?

The Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott to tell him how embarrassing he is; The Dalai Lama to feel his vibes; Neil Young to play some music for me; Richard Branson for motivation; and The Queen of England to ask her what the Royal Family actually contributes to society.
